After relocating to Tampa, Florida, Samantha went on to attend Cortiva Institute in Pinellas Park, Florida for massage therapy. Upon completing 750 hours of education, where she attained certifications in myofascial release and neuromuscular massage as well as focused courses in prenatal, sports massage and massage for special populations; she became a licensed massage therapist. Upon earning her licensure, she decided to utilize her skills in a chiropractic practice; she spent two years working with Sheldon Road Chiropractic in Tampa, Florida. During her time at this office she became a certified chiropractic assistant and collaborated with the doctors and other members of the healthcare team in order to provide focused care both through massage and chiropractic. As she continued to collaborate with the medical professionals in this location, Samantha realized her passion for health research and education. She then went on to complete a Masters in Public Health from Liberty University.
Continuing forward, Samantha completed an internship involving inner-city at risk girls where she worked with a team of volunteers with Girls on the Run in order to educate the girls on the benefits of exercise and healthy diet. During this time the team prepared the girls for and organized a 5K race where Samantha created an initiative to also prepare the parents and caregivers to participate in the race with their child. This internship culminated in a final thesis on the topic of informing and educating those that are at risk of major health and disease incidents on healthy diet, exercise and family involvement.
Upon completion of her work with the Girls on the Run, she began her work with a health and wellness center doing massage. During this time the work to collaborate with multiple alternative medicine practitioners began. After a year of planning and groundwork Samantha started her business, Balanced by Samantha where she collaborates on integrative teams in chiropractic and medical offices around Birmingham.
Recently, Samantha completed training to become a certified infant massage teacher with the founder of the Liddle Kidz Foundation, Tina Allen. No matter your bodywork needs, Samantha will work together with you to find the most effective modality for your goals.
